GROVELAND, Mass. - The superintendent of the Pentucket Regional School District issued an H1N1 flu update to parents yesterday afternoon, according to the Daily News of Newburyport.

The move was prompted by an increase in student absenteeism in some of the schools.

Superintendent Paul Livingston told the Daily News "a high number" of students are absent from the Bagnall School in Groveland due to flu-like symptoms. The Page Elementary School in West Newbury is reporting a "slightly higher-than-typical" rate of students out, Livingston told the paper.

Livingston did not have any information on students who have been diagnosed with H1N1 virus. He did not say how many students are absent from each school.
