Each quick and easy recipe is formulated using common ingredients with natural anti-aging properties that are readily found in most pantries.
Honey Almond Scrub
Combining the natural anti-aging properties of honey which include antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, healing, and emollient attributes along with almonds which have a number of rejuvenating properties including a natural source of copper, iron and vitamin E is the foundation of this scrub recipe.
Almonds also provide a gentle mechanical exfoliation action while the lime adds an antioxidant and gentle fruit acid exfoliating action. The mint lends a stimulating fragrance along with a germicidal, healing, and antiseptic component.
Combine well:
2 tablespoons of honey
3 tablespoons finely ground almonds
Juice of 1/2 lime
A freshly ground mint leaf
Gently use to scrub the surface of the skin. Rinse well with warm water.
It’s About Thyme Antiseptic Toner
When used in natural skin care recipes the herb thyme has healing, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties. Thyme is also an excellent home remedy in treating acne with an extensive history of medicinal uses in treating a variety of ailments.
Aspirin, a form of salicylic acid, is an exceptional exfoliant and acne treatment while baking soda is natural cleanser and exfoliant. Combined with Soy milk which is high in vitamin E, lecithin, antioxidants and essential fatty acids this recipe works to treat acne prone skin, stimulate collagen and restore the elasticity to mature skin.
Mix together thoroughly:
1 cup organic soy milk
1 1/2 tablespoon baking soda
5 plain aspirin finely ground
2 tablespoons fresh thyme finely ground
Let mixture infuse for several hours before using to tone facial skin daily.
Vitamin Rich Avocado Facial Mask
Avocados have a treasure trove of anti-aging attributes. They are full of vitamin A, D and E. along with proteins, lecithin, beta-carotene and potassium. They also are high in emollient qualities imparted by sterolins which work to heal sun damaged skin, scarring and reduce age spots. Mixed along with the rejuvenating properties of sage and grapefruit juice and the moisturizing properties of castor oil, this mask provides a bounty of nourishment for any skin type.
Mash together thoroughly:
1/2 mashed avocado
4 fresh sage leaves finely chopped
2 tablespoons grapefruit juice
1 drizzle castor oil (just enough to make the mask mixture creamy and easy to apply)
Apply a thin layer of the mixture to the skin and let set for up to 20 minutes. Rinse well with warm water.
Go Nuts! Rejuvenating Moisturizer
Coconut oil is easily absorbed into the skin. It possesses healing properties, is rich in vitamins and minerals, has anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-fungal attributes, is an antioxidant as well as acts as a skin softener and moisturizer.
Combined with the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory of ginger root and the astringent, antibacterial, stimulating and restorative properties of rosemary this moisturizer imparts rejuvenating qualities to all skin types.
Combine:
1/4 cup virgin coconut oil
1 tablespoon finely grated ginger root
1 tablespoon finely ground rosemary
Let mixture infuse several hours. Use to moisturize skin once daily.
