(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Any parent out there who has their kids playing hockey knows how insanely expensive it is.

Just joining a league is pricey, because of the ice time alone. But then there is the matter of equipment, which can cost hundreds of dollars a year.

The costs are pricing many families out of the game, which is where Restore Hockey comes in.

A local dad named Michael Spengler, who grew up playing the game, started the organization. Restore Hockey takes donated equipment, and put it into the hands of those who need it most. Check out the interview for more.

If you have equipment you don't use any more and want to donate it, you can help by visiting their website at restorehockey.org .
