NORTH BOLTON - A Connecticut teen faces a number of weapons charges after Massachusetts State Police found guns and ammunition in his pickup truck during a routine traffic stop.
Police say 18-year-old Luke Huizinga of Danbury, Conn., was pulled over at about 12:20 a.m. on Thursday on Interstate 495 North in Bolton after a trooper saw him swerving across lanes.
During a pat down, police found several rounds on ammunition on Huizinga.
Police discovered a rifle, a shotgun, brass knuckles, body armor, several knives and more ammunition during a search of his truck.
Huizinga was to be arraigned in Clinton District Court on Thursday on charges including possession of a large capacity firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
It could not immediately be determined if he has an attorney.
State Police released the following information:
Massachusetts State Police charged a Danbury, Connecticut man with numerous weapon charges after stopping him for marked lane violations early Thursday morning and finding a rifle, shotgun, brass knuckles, knives, several high capacity magazines and numerous rounds of ammunition in his vehicle.
At 12:20 a.m. on March 5, 2009 Trooper Shaun Bellao observed a 2000 Ford Ranger failing to stay within marked lanes on Route 495 North in Bolton. The trooper activated his lights and stopped the vehicle.
The operator, 18-year-old LUKE S. HUIZINGA was observed to be in possession of several rounds of ammunition. A pat frisk revealed HUIZINGA was in possession of several more rounds and a knife.
During the investigation, troopers a Bushmaster 16” rifle with a night scope and pistol grip, two high capacity magazines, a Remington 12-gauge shotgun with additional rounds of ammunition, five knives, brass knuckles, and a ballistic vest with an armor plate. One ammunition round, a .50 caliber rifle bullet was found in the suspect’s pocket; the remainder of the contraband was found in the Ranger.
HUIZINGA was arrested and charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a firearm, seven counts of possession of a high capacity feeding device, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of a dangerous weapon, the brass knuckles. HUIZINGA was scheduled to be arraigned in Clinton District Court today.
