MANCHESTER, N.H. (FOX25, myfoxboston) - A police officer suffered serious injuries after he was dragged by a suspect fleeing from a domestic disturbance scene in Manchester, N.H., on Friday night.
Officers responded to Cartier Street at about 10:30 p.m. and talked to a female victim, determining that they were going to arrest 33-year-old Gerald Howard.
Police found Howard in his car backing out of the garage.
Officer Justin Maguire opened the passenger door of the car and identified himself as a police officer, but Howard did not stop, according to a police report. He sped down the street as Maguire jumped off of the car and suffered serious injuries.
Howard almost struck another responding officer, according to the report.
Howard was found near Parkside Avenue and struggled with officers before he was taken into custody, police said.
He faces charges of simple assault, obstructing report of a crime, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, reckless conduct and disobeying a police officer.
