The Boston Teachers Union wants to stop hundreds of teachers from pocketing bonuses.

The union is opposing a performance-based bonus program started in 2008 and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates and Exxon Mobil foundations.

The program awards Advanced Placement class teachers up to $3,000 a year for meeting certain goals.

Union officials want the bonuses distributed equally among all teachers.

The union president says all teachers are responsible for students' development.
