TOKYO (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A sea water sample from the shorelines of Japan’s crippled nuclear plant shows levels of radioactive iodine are 7.5 million times the legal limit.
Radiation has been pouring into the pacific since the massive earthquake and tsunami three weeks ago, and plant workers are deliberately dumping radioactive water into the ocean to make way for new water that is flooding the basement.
Government officials claim the contamination does not pose an immediate danger.
Their experts say the radioactivity will quickly dilute in the ocean and the dumping should not affect seafood in the area.
