Two sisters were killed and another was hurt by their 23-year-old brother, who was then shot to death by police in their Milton home on Saturday, police said.

Police said Kerby Revelus stabbed his 17-year-old sister Samantha, a senior at Milton High School, his 5-year-old sister Bianca, and his 9-year-old sister Sarafina, with a kitchen knife on the second floor of the multi-residential home on Belvoir Road.

Norfolk District Attorney William Keating says the stabbings may have stemmed from an argument between the siblings. Keating said Kerby Revelus had also been in a fist fight with a neighbor the night before.

It appears that Samantha told her younger sister Sarafina to call 911 when the stabbings started, and the first officer arrived one minute later. But Samantha and Bianca were already dead, police said.

"As the officer entered the door, he decapitated (Bianca) in front of him," Milton Police Chief Richard Wells said. "He actually walked into a killing field. He walked into such carnage, as far as the atrocity of it, I've never seen it.”

Sarafina suffered stab wounds and defense wounds and was rushed to Boston Medical Center where she is expected to survive. Wells says the quick response may have saved Sarafina's life.

A Poem By Samantha Revelus:
ACQUAINTANCE
If by any chance you see that lady
With the round face,
Wide nose,
Deep brown eyes
Hair like wires curled up in a bun.
Pay close attention to her.
Notice her allure as she goes.
Simply, catch her attention before she knows.
Before any men cajole her with unreal vows.
If by any means you would want to identify her,
Speak of her not just as a woman of color,
But as a Creole marabou you won't find around any corner.
If you would want to own her,
Show her your world in one dimension,
Teach her your method,
Arise from all lies and weak frauds.
Keep her high above,
Embrace with all your attention,
Not to mention your love and affection.
If not yet done,
Then love is worthless
And time will leave you heartless.
For she brings with her nothing but desires,
A home to welcome love and peace,
Which the heart requires.
Ignorant souls travel through her life,
With mud under their feet,
And thorns inducing cries of defeat.
But not one of them,
Not a single one of the filthy souls thought of
Reviving her.
So what lousy wind brought you here?
What values of you offer?
She's a woman, A queen,
A goddess,
Don't treat her like any other.

The four initial responding officers were being treated for trauma and stress.

"For some of the officers that were here tonight, it's one of the most horrific things they've seen in their multi-decade careers," Wells said.

The children's parents were not home at the time. A woman who identified herself as the mother of the children collapsed outside the home when she heard what had happened. The mother is a nurse at a Boston hospital.

"What we have here is an awful, awful tragedy that has struck one family extremely hard," Keating said.

Bianca had recently celebrated her birthday. A birthday cake with five candles was found in the home.

Samantha was an honor roll student, a member of the Poetry Club and the Caribbean Cape Verdean Club. She hoped to go to college for graphic design, according to a Milton High School press release.

Keating said Kerby Revelus was arrested for a domestic issue in 2004 and was released from jail for a firearms offense a few months ago.
