Teen charged with shaking baby to death

LYNN, Mass. - A teenager from Lynn has been indicted on charges that he shook his girlfriend's 2-month-old daughter to death.

The Daily Item of Lynn reports that Alonso Guzman, 18, is charged with murder in connection with the death of Lizbeth Guzman in May.

The teen, who prosecutors say is not the girl's father, has been held without bail since pleading not guilty at his district court arraignment. His arraignment in Salem Superior Court is scheduled for Aug. 5.

An autopsy on the infant determined her head and optic nerve injuries were likely caused by Guzman, who was taking care of the baby at the time.

An doctor told police the child's head trauma "was consistent with a non-accidental injury."
