The Tall Ships visit to Boston has been declared a rousing success.

According to organizers, an estimated 1.8 million people visited the ships during the past five days to see the spectacular sailing vessels, more than three time original estimates.

Sail Boston, which brought the 45 ships to the harbor, says great weekend weather helped swell the crowds.

The ships are scheduled to leave Boston harbor on Monday on a staggered schedule starting early in the morning and lasting well into the evening.

Some are expected to leave under full sail.

The fleet is now headed to Halifax, Nova Scotia for the next leg of the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge.
