One man was killed and two others were hurt after an early morning shooting at a gas station in Brockton, police said.
Investigators spent the day combing through the crime scene at the Hess gas station on Main Street.
“I think it’s too early to speculate as to what happened. That’s part of the investigation,” said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz. “We will find out if they know each other. That’s one of the things we normally look into and I’m confident, as I always am, we will get these guys.”
The shooting happened at about 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Antonio Centeio, 23, of Brockton, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died a short time later. The two other victims had non-life threatening injuries.
“The intersection was kind of blocked off a little bit. My parking lot had some State Police cars in it. It looked like they were taking pictures,” said Thomas Fournier, who has owned Dunbar Euro Sports, a high-end motorcycle shop, next door since 1955.
A bullet hit the side of his building but it did not pierce through.
Authorities said this is an ongoing problem at gas stations in Brockton. Because they’re open late at night, they’ve become a hot spot for crime.
Brockton has a 2 a.m. liquor license, so anyone who is out after that tends to go to 24-hour gas stations.
Two vehicles were involved in the incident. One had a blown-out back window and the other had blood stains. Both were taken into evidence.
No arrests have been made.
“We will continue to do the job to try to get this small group of individuals who are causing havoc off the streets and put them where they belong, which is in jail,” said Cruz.
