SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The four 19-year-old Massachusetts men involved in an early morning crash on Route 295 in Rhode Island may have been drinking.

According to Rhode Island State Police, the four underage men may have been drinking at a Rhode Island bar.

The police say both alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the one-car crash that killed two passengers and seriously injured a third man.

Although, police say they are not 100% on what caused the one car crash which happened just before 1am Wednesday morning.

Two men who were in the back seat of the 2000 Dodge were pronounced dead at the scene.

Marcello Ventrella, of Bellingham, was ejected from the vehicle, and Aram J. Pothier, of Blackstone, was pinned under the vehicle.

The police believe the person who is at Rhode Island Hospital was driving the car,

Police have identified him as being Robert Baez, also of Bellingham.

No charges have been filed at this time.
