HYANNIS, Mass. - An alleged drunken driver is accused of crashing his Honda Civic through the window of a Hyannis liquor store and then fleeing the scene.

Police said Bernard Kilroy, 27, of Centerville, drove his car all the way inside of the Hyannis Package Store on Main Street at 1:34 a.m. He then put the car in reverse to exit the store and fled the scene, police said.

But the car’s front bumper and license plate were left inside the store, making it easy for police to track him down.

He was arrested a short time later.

The accident did some structural damage to the liquor store and also knocked over a few cases of wine.  The Hyannis Package Store was closed on Sunday.
