Murphy returns home to Seekonk

SEEKONK, Mass. (myfoxboston) - Shane Murphy, the Massachusetts Maritime Academy graduate who was the number 2 on a ship hijacked by Somali pirates, returned to his home in Seekonk, Mass. on Thursday.

"I could feel a connection to my friends and my family and the prayers," he said. "I think everyone on that ship could feel it. We could feel the world with us, and it gave us pride and strength to keep going on."

Murphy said he hopes the incident will bring a international attention to safety on the high seas.

He also says the crew is looking forward to going to the Celtics and Red Sox games this weekend.
