WORCESTER, Mass. (myfoxboston) - A 15-year veteran police officer walked into work Thursday to find himself tossed behind bars.
Worcester Officer Carlos L. Burgos, 39, was arrested and charged in a drug investigation.
Worcester police would not confirm what the exact charges were but said 16 others were also arrested in a six-month investigation.
Police said they gathered some evidence by setting up a wiretap.
Burgos has been placed on unpaid leave. His badge and gun were taken and he is not allowed back at the police station.
Burgos's lawyer says there is no evidence proving his client is guilty, and Burgos looks forward to clearing his name.
