Health officials say Massachusetts has seen its first swine flu-related death.
The victim was a 30 year-old Boston woman who was hospitalized on June 5th. Her tests came back positive on June 10th and she died on June 14th.
The Boston Public Health Commission has called a news conference later Monday to discuss the case.
The number of confirmed swine flu cases in Massachusetts has topped 1,000.
Last week, the World Health Organization declared swine flu a pandemic, the first global flu epidemic in 41 years.

The state Department of Public Health said Tuesday that it has confirmed 70 additional cases of swine flu, bringing the state's total to 1,010. Officials say 73 people have been hospitalized due to symptoms, but there have been no deaths in Massachusetts.
Boston School Superintendent Carol Johnson says the William E. Russell Elementary School in Dorchester, the Charles Sumner Elementary School in Roslindale and the Maurice J. Tobin School in Roxbury will close for seven days because of a high number of flu cases.
In all, 13 Boston schools have been forced to close for one-week periods because of the swine flu outbreak.
