(FOX25, myfoxboston) - The father-in-law of accused Alabama shooter Amy Bishop, who called Foxborough home for 27 years, spoke on the phone with FOX25’s Mark Ockerbloom on Friday night.
James Anderson didn’t want to be taped because he said he fears for his safety.
Anderson now lives in Alabama. He said it’s been “hell” for him and his family this past week.
Anderson said he feels for the victims and their families, saying “they lost their livelihood, their support and their loved ones."
He says the first person killed, Gopi Podila, was one of his daughter-in-law's biggest supporters and, according to Anderson, had just voted to extend her tenure, which makes her actions all the more puzzling. He claims there were no warning signs.
Anderson said he was only somewhat aware of the deadly 1986 shooting in Braintree and that only this week did he learn the details.
He did say that through e-mails with his daughter-in-law last fall, they discussed getting her a gun because she said she was being stalked outside the science building on campus. He said police have identified an alleged stalker who could play a key role in the case going forward.
Anderson’s son, James Junior, is in "denial," according to Anderson.
But as for Bishop's four kids, Anderson says neighbors in Huntsville have been super, and they haven't had to cook a meal yet.
