NEWTON, Mass. (FOX25, myfoxboston) - Harvard and Boston College are scheduled to honor alumni who have made the ultimate sacrifice this Veterans Day.
Boston College officials are planning to dedicate a 70-foot-long granite memorial wall on Wednesday in honor of 209 alumni who have lost their lives while serving in a war zone.
The memorial wall will display their names.
Retired Marine Gen. John Sheehan, a 1962 BC graduate and the only alumnus to earn a four-star flag rank, will be the keynote speaker.
Harvard will unveil a plaque on campus to honor the university's 16 alumni who have received the Medal of Honor. That's the most of any civilian university. U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey Jr. is scheduled to attend.
About 1,200 Harvard alumni have died in war.
