BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - There were some serious delays at Logan International Airport on Thursday. Lines for the new full body scanners were backing up, and one passenger said he waited in line for 45 minutes.
Logan received three machines. They scan passengers' bodies for weapons and explosives beneath their clothing using low-level x-ray beams.
Apparently there were only two lines open for the body scanners. TSA officials said it was a "perfect storm" of many passengers needing to get through the scanners, and not enough TSA officials, because many of them were out for training.
Airport officials quickly opened another two scanners to get the line moving.
The TSA said it scanned about 24,000 passengers on Thursday.
