FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Students in Foxboro will soon be required to take breathalyzer tests at school.
The school committee informally agreed Monday to a new high school plan to subject suspected students to the tests.
Teachers and administrators will start giving the tests in two weeks. They’ll be on alert for slurred speech, erratic behavior, strong foreign odor and glassy eyes.
Students who refuse to take the test will be considered to be in violation and will be subject to discipline.
The device will be on hand in school and during after-school events. School officials say the alcohol testing device will discourage underage drinking.
