PROVIDENCE, R.I. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston) - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio is trying to block the state's $75 million loan guarantee to former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling's video game development company.

Caprio, the state general treasurer, says he's expressed concerns about the deal with 38 Studios to Gov. Don Carcieri and the state Economic Development Corporation, which authorized the loan guarantee. But he says his concerns haven't been addressed.

Caprio says he's asked Moody's and Standard & Poor's to withhold any further review until a new governor takes office.

Some of Caprio's opponents in the governor's race, including independent candidate Lincoln Chafee, have also sharply criticized the deal. Supporters say the company can bring hundreds of jobs from its current location in Massachusetts to Rhode Island by the end of 2012.
