PELHAM, N.H. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Eight-year-old Reid Barrett heard screeching tires and then a loud crash. "It was really loud, kind of scary," he said.

A Pelham, N.H., family has quite a mess to clean up after an SUV crashed into their home yesterday afternoon.

It was a scary sight but one that could have been a lot worse. Ralph Barrett and his four kids were watching TV in their living room when the vehicle slammed into their home.

Police say the driver, 62-year-old Madeline Dreusicke, got her sandal stuck on the brake pedal and lost control of the car. She and a 4-year-old girl, who was also in the car, suffered a few cuts and scrapes.

Erin Barrett was not home at the time, but is thankful her husband and kids are OK. "You can fix the house, but you can't replace my family."

Tonight on the FOX25 News at 6 p.m., we'll have more on this story and tell you what may have prevented the crash from being more serious.
