BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Parking for just 25 cents an hour in Boston's Back Bay?

Yes, but only if you ride a scooter or motorcycle.

Beginning this afternoon, the city will be offering the first metered parking spaces for scooters or motorcycles in front of popular stores on Newbury and Boylston Streets.

There will be more than three dozen spaces available, and the bikes can be chained to the meters for safety.

Metered parking spaces for cars cost 25 cents every 15 minutes.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino tells The Boston Globe the changes will help accommodate the growing popularity of scooters.

In the past, scooter owners have generally been allowed to park on sidewalks in the city even though it's technically illegal to do so.
