Coast Guard searching for Massachusetts family man

BOSTON - The Coast Guard is searching off the Massachusetts coast for a Nantucket man reported missing from a 23-foot skiff he was sailing with his family from Hyannis to Nantucket.

Petty Officer Lauren Jorgensen said Thursday that John Hemingway's wife and two children last saw him about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday when they went below deck to sleep. When they awoke Thursday morning, the skiff had run aground on Nantucket and Hemingway was missing.

Jorgensen said Nantucket police were notified and the Coast Guard was called in Thursday afternoon. Three Coast Guard boats, two cutters and a helicopter are involved in the search.
