Police say they have uncovered a sophisticated operation inside a Scituate home that yielded more than $200,000 worth of marijuana.
Seventy-five pot plants were seized from the Pondview Avenue home. Scott R. Garland, of Cohasset, is accused of running the pot growing operation.
Police said they could smell the marijuana as soon as they reached the door. When police made their way inside the home, they found a hydroponic grow system that filled two bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor with equipment used to test pH and nutrient levels, air circulators and exhaust fans. The equipment was worth $15,000 according to police.
The 75 plants could yield about $3,000 worth of marijuana each, police said.
Garland was arrested and charged him with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, third offense; cultivating marijuana; and trafficking in marijuana.
Garland was arraigned Thursday in Hingham District Court and released.
The owner of the Scituate house has not been named. The incident remains under investigation.
Scituate police called this one of the largest grow houses discovered in the town in decades.
