CONCORD, N.H. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Steven Spader and his accomplices burglarized another Mont Vernon home, tried to rob a Nashua drug dealer and broke into the Brookline home of Spader's neighbor in the months before he and three friends allegedly broke into a Mont Vernon home to kill and rob, according to court documents reveal.

The Union Leader reports the 18-year-old Spader gave a fellow inmate a detailed description of how he and three other teens planned and carried out the Oct. 4 knife and machete attack on local nurse Kimberly L. Cates, 42, and her daughter, Jaimie, 11, inside their Mont Vernon home. Cates was killed and her daughter severely wounded.

Spader is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the deadly home invasion murder and attack on Trow Road.

If convicted, Spader could be sent to prison for life of the murder and other charges he is facing.

State prosecutors say they intend to present Spader's alleged jailhouse confession at his Oct. 25 trial on first-degree murder and related charges. Prosecutors want to present witness testimony and other evidence they say proves Spader and Christopher A. Gribble, 20, broke into a Brookline house the week before the deadly Mont Vernon home invasion and murder, the Union Leader reports.

Spader and Gribble are charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and burglary and witness tampering in the Mont Vernon home invasion. Both have pleaded not guilty.

Quinn Glover, 18, and William Marks, 19, were part of the plot to break into the house, kill anyone they found inside and steal items, prosecutors said. Prosecutors say only Gribble and Spader actually participated in the pre-dawn attack on Cates and her daughter and are the only ones facing murder charges.
