BOSTON (FOX25, myfoxboston) - A Dorchester teen has been sentenced to two years in jail for bringing a gun to English High School in 2008.
Walter West, 19, of Dorchester, a former student of Jeremiah E. Burke High School, brought the loaded gun to English around 9 a.m. in Nov. 20, 2008.
Police responded after an altercation broke out inside of the school. They arrested West and found the gun in his backpack.
“We see the aftermath of gun violence too often in Boston,” District Attorney Daniel Conley said in a statement. “This could have been the prelude. It doesn’t take much imagination to consider what could have happened to another student if this armed gunman had found a target before being intercepted.”
West was sentenced to 2 and a half years in jail, followed by two years of probation.
