FREETOWN, Mass. - Police say a 32-year-old man was beaten with a crowbar after he got out of his car following an accident in Freetown on Thursday.
The victim was riving on South Main Street in the Assonet Village when his truck was rear-ended by another vehicle.
He got out of the car, expecting to exchange paperwork with the other driver, when he was attacked by that driver with a crowbar, police said. He was knocked to the ground and was bleeding and barely conscious.
The assailant and another man fled the scene in the victim’s truck.
The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The stolen truck was later recovered in Berkley, but police are still searching for the suspects. The suspects were driving a late model white GMC SUV, that now has minor front-end damage.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
