MALDEN (FOX25, myfoxboston) - A 75-year-old woman whacks a robber half her age and twice her size.

The action all happened at a 7-11 on Salem Street in Malden on Thursday night.

While the woman is talking to her friend, a robber walks into the store, goes right for the register and struggles with the clerk for the cash drawer.  The 75-year-old woman grabs a price scanner nearby and starts swinging.  Beating the robber several times.

Police identified the suspect as 34-year-old Michael McInnis of Saugus and were able to arrest him right away.

Officials warn that it's never a great idea to take on a robber, but in this case, they give the woman kudos.
