WOBURN, Mass. (FOX25, myfoxboston) - A former Middlesex County official who pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from cash and copy machines at the Registry of Deeds in Cambridge and from his campaign funds will be sentenced today.
Former Probate Register John Buonomo, of Newton, pleaded guilty to stealing at the registry. He is scheduled to appear in Woburn Superior Court.
The 57-year-old Buonomo, who resigned from his post last year, also admitted to stealing more than $100,000 from his own campaign fund.
Buonomo resigned from his position in September 2008.
