Fatal crash kills 1 on Lynnway

LYNN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - One person is dead after a fatal car accident involving a flatbed tow truck on Friday afternoon on the Lynnway.

The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. when a Honda Civic, operated by Ronnie Huon, 22, of Lynn, was stopped at a red light. A flatbed tow truck operated by Derek Gallien, 23, of Peabody struck the Honda. Both vehicles caught fire upon impact.

Gallien was not injured in the crash. Huon and Cassandra Pok, 18, of Lynn, the front seat passenger, were able to get out of the Honda, where they were transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital.

A 23-year-old Lynn man sitting in the backseat of the Honda was unable to escape and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending proper notification of family.

The tow truck is owned by G and J Towing of Revere.

The crash remains under investigation.
