4-year-old twins drown in backyard pool

BROCKTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Four-year-old twin girls have both died after a drowning accident in their backyard pool at 25 Endicott Street in Brockton Saturday morning.

CPR was performed at the home before the girls were taken Brockton Hospital. They were later transported to Children's Hospital where they were initially both in critical condition.

Lindsey Bonsu died Saturday at 2:07 p.m. and her sister, Leslie, passed away early Sunday at 12:42 a.m.

The circumstances surrounding the drowning are under investigation by State Police Detectives.

The Department of Children and Families has confirmed that they are investigating this tragedy saying concerns over the children's welfare have been reported. Apparently a report was filed Saturday against one or both of the parents of the home for abuse and neglect.

Neighbors say a similar incident happened in this same pool a couple summers ago when one of the parent’s three children fell into the pool. She was given CPR and taken to the hospital for the night.

When asked if this was the first report filed against the parents, we were told “no comment.”

FOX 25 has been told the pool is unused and sometimes green and murky.

As of right now it is still unclear how the girls got into the pool. When the police and paramedics arrived the girls mother was so distraught, she was also sent to the hospital.

On July 17, 2-year-old twin sisters fell into a pool in their backyard in Lynnfield and drowned . The drowning of Veronica and Angelina Andreottola appeared to be an accident and is still under investigation.
