BOSTON (AP) - Gov. Deval Patrick appears to be questioning one finding of the state police investigation into Lt. Gov. Tim Murray's November car crash.

The police analysis of the so-called "black box" in Murray's state-owned vehicle determined that Murray was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash on Interstate 190 in Sterling.

But speaking on WTKK-FM Thursday, Patrick said considering the extensive damage to the car it was "impossible" that Murray could have walked away uninjured unless he was wearing his seat belt. Patrick did not elaborate.

Murray told reporters in the hours after the crash that he was wearing a seat belt, though he hasn't publicly questioned the state police finding that he was not.

Seat belts are mandatory under state law.
