A judge today removed Robert Harris from the will of his deceased wife, who was a Lynnfield veterinarian. Harris claims she committed suicide during a Caribbean getaway.
Mary Elizabeth Baruffaldi, the sister of Joan Baruffaldi, had asked the judge in Essex Superior Court to make her the executor of Baruffaldi's will, but a new executor was not named.
Baruffaldi reportedly left $3 million in assets to Harris. He had been apppointed a temporary co-executor of his wife's estate along with Melrose attorney Tamara Kolz by Essex Probate Judge Mary Anne Sahagian.
Baruffaldi's family has asked for a second autopsy. They say her relationship with Harris was rocky and witnesses saw the couple fighting before her death.
Baruffaldi was found dead by Harris during an international veterinary conference at the Westin St. John Resort.
Harris called family members to say Barrufaldi killed herself after the two had an argument.
Court documents say Baruffaldi locked herself in the bathroom at the resort and wouldn’t come out. Ten to 15 minutes later, hotel security found her with a bathrobe strap tied around her neck.
Baruffaldi's ex-husband and her two children have some questions about Harris' account of the story.
