Local cardiologist killed by car in Orlando

ORLANDO - A Brigham and Women's Hospital cardiologist was struck and killed by a car while jogging in Orlando, Fla. yesterday morning.

Dr. Kenneth L. Baughman, 63, of Newton, is director of Advanced Heart Disease at Brigham and was in Orlando for the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions medical conference.

According to the Boston Globe, Dr. Baughman was struck by 50-year-old Gary Krotke, of Haines City, Fla., who was driving a 2007 Saturn sedan while Baughman crossed a four-way intersection.

Police do not believe charges will be filed against Krotke, though the investigation is ongoing.
