A U.S. Postal Service worker accused of striking and killing a Norfolk County sheriff's deputy who was out jogging has pleaded not guilty to a vehicular homicide charge.
Authorities allege 49-year-old John Cahill of Braintree was speeding on Aug. 22 when his postal truck struck 45-year-old James Zupkofska of Weymouth. Zupkofska died later at South Shore Hospital.
Cahill was released on personal recognizance after entering his plea Thursday in Norfolk Superior Court, but was prohibited from driving while his case is pending. He has been suspended from his job.
Cahill's defense attorney said in court that his client was not speeding and the accident happened on a curve with poor visibility.
