BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A small bird nicknamed Rambo was found bruised and battered in the yard of an East Arlington resident.

The tiny bird, which after surviving for possibly days in the wild, is now being treated by Angell Animal Medical Center’s Avian and Exotics Service as an owner is sought.

The Good Samaritan from East Arlington found the Budgerigar in his backyard yesterday around 6:30 p.m. The bird was distressed and appeared to be in shock

After rescuing the injured bird, the resident went door-to-door seeking an owner, but her search was unsuccessful.

"Upon examination we discovered that Rambo had been bitten by an animal and immediately started emergency measures to reduce the chances of infection," said Dr. Jennifer Graham of Angell’s Avian and Exotics Service. "It is important to prevent infection in any case involving an animal bite."

The initial examination also produced a few clues as to the bird’s history. “Rambo has an ID band on his leg,” Dr. Graham said. “This form of identification as well as clipped wings told us that he is owned and that he may not have traveled far since he is flightless.”

The MSPCA-Angell is asking members of the public who may know Rambo to come forward with any information regarding his owners. To report any information regarding the Budgie please call the MSPCA-Angell at (617) 541-5120.
