BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Some residents that constantly lose power in Foxborough were surprised to hear the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce honoring National Grid Massachusetts President Marcy Reed for "outstanding achievement in the workplace."
"A lot of people work really hard in their careers for the things that they accomplish. My number one focus after the safety of our employees and the public is on the satisfaction of our customers," said Reed at the awards ceremony. Reed was one of eight women honored by the chamber on Thursday.
"I just don’t think they are paying attention to business. It seems that now that we have a massive power company, there's a lot less services for the people. There's a lot less connect with their customers" said Foxborough business owner Dan Gay.
Thousands of National Grid customers lost power in 2011 following Tropical Storm Irene and multiple snowstorms, but some Foxborough customers say they lose power during every storm.
"Anytime there's a storm we typically lose power. Not for as long as we lost it for the hurricane or the snowstorm, that was extreme. But we lose power for like 12 hours at a time" said Foxborough resident Lorie Dunbar.
Attorney General Martha Coakley recently reached an agreement requiring National Grid to pay 2.2 million dollars for its inadequate response to a previous snowstorm, and a formal investigation is underway in regards to the response time on Tropical Storm Irene.
