Neighbors complain of Somerville stadium noise

Residents of an Arlington street are complaining about noise coming from Somerville High School’s home football field.

The speakers at Dilboy Field face Arlington and residents say the sound is turned up way too loud.

"The light comes inside, the noise comes inside. Forget about trying to use the deck. We don't even try," said one neighbor.

Arlington selectmen are having town workers measure the decibel levels coming from the stadium after they received a number of complaints from nearby residents.

"The events end before 10 'o clock, but we understand people's concerns," said Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone, who is also a coach of the Somerville High School football team. "It's something we continue to monitor because we want to be good neighbors."

Curtatone said they turned down the public address system, but neighbors say it's not enough.

The stadium is also the home field for Suffolk University soccer and a women’s football team called the Boston Militia.

Neighbors hope to meet with Somerville officials and come to an agreement.
