The Tuesday morning crash occurred near Route 122 in Grafton, causing miles-long backups on the highway that is also Interstate 90.

The driver of the disabled tractor-trailer, Tony Benoit of Charlton, was seated in the cab. The 33-year-old was taken to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester with a serious injury.

There was no immediate word on the condition and fate of 60-year-old Kenneth Lava of Chelsea, who was driving the truck.
