GRAFTON, Mass. - State police say a truck crashed into a disabled tractor-trailer parked in the breakdown lane of the Massachusetts Turnpike, killing a mechanic and leaving a second victim with serious injuries. SKYFOX was over the scene.
The Tuesday morning crash occurred near Route 122 in Grafton, causing miles-long backups on the highway that is also Interstate 90.
Police say 36-year-old Dennis Scott of Whitinsville was responding to the disabled tractor-trailer and was standing near its cab when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the disabled tractor-trailer, Tony Benoit of Charlton, was seated in the cab. The 33-year-old was taken to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester with a serious injury.
There was no immediate word on the condition and fate of 60-year-old Kenneth Lava of Chelsea, who was driving the truck.
