HOLYOKE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Holyoke police say despite a lack of cooperation from witnesses they have identified a suspect in the weekend shooting of a 16-year-old youth.
Chief Anthony Scott said in a statement Tuesday that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 20-year-old Julio Reyes-Roman, who is wanted in connection with the slaying of Jean Carlos Laguer.
Laguer, who just started his freshman year at Holyoke High School, was shot in the back at about 4 a.m. Sunday outside a house party after coming to the defense of his 18-year-old brother, who had been beaten unconscious in a fight with other partygoers.
Police say the fight started when the older brother got drunk and started bumping into others.
The police chief said Reyes-Roman is considered armed and dangerous.
