Police investigating apparent murder-suicide in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (FOX25, myfoxboston) - Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that took place this afternoon.

According to the Bristol Country District Attorney’s Office, Alfred Arruda Jr., 43, shot his brother, David Arruda, and his aunt, Barbara Platt and then shot himself.

The incident took place outside of the home all three shared.

After shooting his brother and aunt, Arruda fled to Westport where he shot and killed himself inside of a vehicle at the Watuppa Boat Club.

David Arruda was pronounced dead at St. Anne’s Hospital. Platt is being currently being treated at Rhode Island Hospital. Her condition is not known.

The incident is still currently under investigation.
