Troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Weston responded to a single-vehicle crash, in which the car struck a toll booth, at the interchange of 128 to Route 90 westbound. The crash resulted in one fatality.

An investigation by State Police say that a 2007 Volkswagen Passat operated by 25-year-old Kunal G. Motwane of East Boston had failed to stop for Waltham Police on Route 128 south.

A short time later Waltham Police located the Volkswagen, which had crashed into a Massachusetts Turnpike toll booth within the interchange 14 plaza in Weston.

Waltham Police contacted State Police and requested assistance.

Motwane suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The toll booth was unoccupied at the time of the crash and there were no injuries to any Turnpike employees.
