When it comes to big construction projects, sometimes it seems those that don't involve public money get completed a lot faster.
FOX25’s Jim Armstrong found a perfect example right outside the door of our Dedham newsroom.
The first is this never-ending Route 1 bridge project over Route 128 that Mass Highway has been working on for years.
According to Mass Highway's website, they've technically been working on this project since 2006, but the paperwork and planning goes back to 2000.
At any rate, it’s well into its fourth year of construction, and it looks far from done. There are unannounced shutdowns of the bridge, including the on and off ramps, all of the time.
On the private money side, a sparkling new Legacy Place shopping complex just a few yards away from the bridge was completed in about a year.
The broke ground in 2008, and people are already eating and shopping there.
