80 teachers fired from Central Falls High School

CENTRAL FALLS, RI (FOX25, myfoxboston) - Teachers, parents and students held a rally protesting the mass firing of Central Falls High School teachers.

88 teachers were fired from Central Falls High School last week.

Superintendent Fran Gallo says the students aren't getting the help they need from the current staff, even saying that students have come to her complaining that teachers urge them to get their G.E.D. Less than half of the students at Central Falls High School graduate.

Teachers claim they are not provided with the resources to provide a quality education for their students.

The teachers can reapply for their jobs, but no more than half can be rehired. The teacher's union is planning on fighting the decision.
