BOSTON - A man with three prior drunken driving convictions is under arrest again after police say he drove drunk, ran a red light, and then tried to flee officers who pulled him over.
Police say Daniel Dennis Junior, 45, of Brookline, is being held on $50,000 bail.
Dennis allegedly drove through a red light at Clarendon Street and Columbus Avenue in Boston at about 2:30 a.m. Friday.
When police caught up with his 2003 BMW, Dennis got out of the vehicle and began slurring his words and had a strong odor of alcohol, police said. He eventually began walking away from the scene down West Canton Street.
Dennis was later found urinating in the bushes nearby, according to police.
Dennis’s first drunken driving conviction was in 1989.
Massachusetts law provides a minimum jail term of two years and as much as five years in state prison for a fourth DUI conviction.
Dennis was also charged with failing to stop for police, driving an unregistered vehicle, and operating with a revoked license.
