(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - School spirit is high at Whitman Hanson Regional High School as students gear up for a big football game against Abington Thanksgiving day. But at this year's pep rally, held just two days before kickoff, there's one tradition that won't be the same. The attire.
In years past, seniors wore black, juniors wore red, sophomores wore white and freshmen wore pink. But a new principal says he is not a fan of the color pink because he says leads to teasing.
He is asking students to wear school colors instead. Jeffrey Szymaniak says it's his job to create an environment where kids can feel comfortable and safe.
Banning the color pink from pep rallies, he says, is just one of several policies the school is implementing following the passage of antibullying legislation in May.
