(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Severe delays on the Red Line stranded commuters at stations for ages, as hundreds waited at some stops for overcrowded trains.
The MBTA General Manager tweeted at the start of rush hour that signal problems were causing delays on the Red Line. Shuttle buses replaced service on trains between Davis and Alewife.
Service between Alewife and Davis is resumed with continued delays, the MBTA GM tweeted at around 6:30 p.m.
Passengers turned to Twitter to vent, complaining that when trains would finally arrive, they wouldn’t take passengers. Some tried to make light of the situation. Passenger Chris Culotta tweeted: “The MTBA as reliable as Lindsay Lohan without an ankle bracelet.”
Many passengers gave up and walked home in freezing temperatures. “Looks like I'm walking home, 5 miles, and will STILL beat my 47/70 or 66/70 [bus], thanks for the heads up.”
