Student not allowed to bring class doll into Planet Fitness

REVERE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Revere High School student taking a child development class is learning motherhood isn't so easy after trying to take her class doll into her local gym, and being turned away because of a "no kids" policy.

Deseree la Porta is taking the class at schoo, and has to take care of the doll for one week. That includes feeding and changing the baby, and taking it with her wherever she goes.

"You can see how hard it is to have a baby, and see what it's like, and why we wouldn't want to have one young," she said.

So when she went to Planet Fitness this week, she brought the doll along. She says she asked for permission to take it in and was denied.

"And he told me, 'Well, why don't you leave it in the car?' And I was like, 'I can't leave it in the car because if it cries I need to attend to it,'" she said.

Planet Fitness said bringing the doll in may make other moms think they're allowed to bring children.

But the gym says la Porta will be allowed to bring the baby in tomorrow if she wants.
