BOLTON, Mass. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A student collapsed and died during track practice at Nashoba Regional High School on Monday.
Alexander Doucette, an 18-year-old senior and honor student at the high school, died during a trial 100 yard dash at the school.
Fellow team mates who are also EMTs worked on Doucette until an ambulance arrived. Paramedics but were unable to revive him.
According to the school, Alex had a physical in December of 2009 and was cleared for athletic activity.
One of Doucette's teachers, Steve Kendall, called Doucette an unassuming young man with a great future ahead of him. Kendall told the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester that the loss will be felt not only at the school but by everyone who ever met Doucette.
Even though it is school vacation week, Nashoba Regional will have grief counselors available to students at the high school on Tuesday morning.
Alex was a 3 sport athlete, soccer, indoor and outdoor track and was an honor student.
